Giulio was born 70 years ago, in an
island where time has been rotating in silence for millennia, Sardinia.
His full first name, Giulio Cesare, brings to mind the great roman history,
while, at the same time, his surname, De Muro, carries the sign of the Opera
and of the great tenor, Bernardo, his uncle. And the talent of Bernardo
lived again in the teenaged Giulio Cesare: those were years of "belcanto"
and stages all over Italy.
But in his pocket he already had a pencil and a charcoal stick. The first
portraits he made had the simplicity of the black sign.
Then it was Rome. For many years the love for oil painting and canvas.
Nothing else than the famous Rembrandt's tubes and the via della Magliana's
canvas. No tricks,no strategems, no technical exasperations. Just oil on
canvas. And the inspiration coming from inside.
And now the brainwave for pastel. Fast signs. Bodies of women just sketched,
the flash of passion. |
